Project overview

This Overton Park home had square footage — it just didn’t have soul.

When this young family came to us, they weren’t new to renovation. They knew what they liked. She had one request from the beginning: Taj Mahal countertops, light and bright, traditional — warm, not white-box modern. The problem wasn’t size. It was layout. The home leaned heavily into a tacky early-2000s modern vibe — polished dark gray slab floors, bold mural walls, harsh lighting, and no true primary suite.

Instead of chasing trends, we brought structure back.

We actually added walls — creating a true dining room and a proper butler’s pantry — restoring intentional flow and function. The kitchen kept a generous peninsula as a smart compromise to an island, maintaining openness without sacrificing storage or seating. We reworked the existing square footage to create a true primary en suite by enclosing what should have always been its dedicated bath, while redesigning the Jack and Jill and powder to improve usability across the home.

Though the homeowners acted as their own GC, we led the floor plan and design vision — giving them clarity, cohesion, and confidence to execute. The result is a home that feels layered, warm, and timeless — designed for real kids, real hosting, and real life in Overton Park. A reminder that sometimes the best move isn’t more space — it’s better space.
