You send photographs and measurements. We send back the room modeled, the selections named, and drawings somebody can build from. We never visit the property — which is exactly why we can do this wherever you are.
The part nobody puts on the page
A render can be made anywhere. A room cannot be built by a render.
Most online design ends at a picture and a list of things to buy. That is genuinely useful, and for a room where nothing moves it may be all you need. It runs out at the point most people actually get stuck.
Anything built in
A bench in a window, a run of cabinetry, a bookcase that has to miss a beam. None of it exists on a shelf, so none of it can be added to a cart. It has to be drawn, and then somebody has to build it.
Anything that moves a wall
The moment a room needs to be a different shape, the question stops being what goes in it. Widening an opening is a structural question before it is a design one, and the answer arrives as a drawing.
Tile, stone and plumbing
A kitchen and a bathroom are mostly decisions nobody can ship to you: layout, slab, grout, where the waste line already is. They are the two rooms people most want help with and the two that need more than a list.
The package
Three things, and the third is the one that matters.
- The room, modeled
- A 3D rendering you can look at before anything is ordered or torn out. The one above is ours, from a real set.
- The selections, specified
- Tile, grout, paint, wallpaper, hardware, fixtures, furniture — named, not gestured at, so a supplier can quote them and a crew can install them.
- The layout, drawn
- Where things go and why, at a scale somebody can build to. Our drafting team sits in the same company as the crews, which is why the plan reflects what things cost and how they actually get built.

What we need from you
The measuring is yours. The method is up to you.
Because we are not standing in the room, the record of it has to come from you: photographs room by room, the dimensions, an existing set of drawings if one survived, and a clear sense of how you want to live in the space.
There is no one right way to get it
A tape and a phone is fine. So is hiring somebody near you, or a surveyor. We do not have a required route, and we are not going to pretend we do — we will tell you what the work needs before you start, so you only do it once.
And one thing we will not do
Come and measure it. On remote work we never visit the property. Saying so up front is worth more than a promise nobody intends to keep at four states’ distance.
Where this hands off
Some of this needs drawings. We have the team that draws them.
Selections and a layout carry a lot of projects on their own. The moment something structural changes, the work becomes a drawing — and that happens in the same company, not at a referral. Engineering is partnered out to licensed engineers; we do not stamp structural work ourselves.

What actually arrives when you design a room you have never stood in? The deliverable
A modeled room, a specified set of selections, and drawings at a scale somebody can build to. That last one is the part worth checking before you hire anybody for this, including us — a design package that stops at a picture and a list of links leaves you holding the hardest part of the job.
Can a remote designer help if I am renovating, not just decorating? Scope
Yes, and this is where the two things separate. Decorating a finished room travels easily. A renovation needs somebody who can say what a change will cost and what it will take structurally, and then draw it — so ours is done by a design team inside a company with a drafting team and crews. We coordinate the engineering with licensed engineers; we do not stamp structural work ourselves.
Do you ever come to the house? How it works
No, and we would rather say that plainly than let you find out later. On remote work we never visit the property. Everything we draw or specify comes from what you send us. That is a real constraint and it is also why this can happen at all — the alternative is not a site visit from us, it is us saying no to anybody outside a drive.
How am I supposed to measure my own room? Your side of it
However suits you. Plenty of people do it themselves with a tape and a phone; plenty hire somebody local, or a surveyor, or use an existing set of drawings if one survived. We do not have a required route and we are not going to invent one. What we will do is tell you exactly what the work needs before you start, so you only measure once.
Is there a flat price per room, the way the online design services charge? Price
No, because a room is not the unit. A per-room package only works while nothing moves — which is why those services tend to quietly leave out kitchens, baths and additions. Ours is priced per project, against what is actually changing. If you want one fixed number to start with, our Design in a Day consultation is a flat fee and it is the cheapest honest way in.
Who do I hand the package to when it is finished? Afterward
Whoever is building it. The drawings and the selections are yours outright and they are drawn to be handed over — to your own contractor, to a crew you have not hired yet, or to you. We are not holding anything back to make you come back to us.

Photographs, whatever dimensions you have, and what you want out of the space. That is enough for us to tell you what the work involves and what it would take, before you have committed to anything.
