Pool & Outdoor Living · Fort Worth

A backyard you actually live in

A pool is only as good as the backyard around it. We design and build the whole outdoor room (outdoor kitchen, covered living, hardscape, and pool) so your backyard works as one space, not a pool with some furniture near it.

Designed as one room

The next room of your home. It just doesn’t have a ceiling

We design the whole outdoor room together (the kitchen, the cover, the fire, the water) because we design interiors and build homes for a living. The outdoor kitchen sits where you actually cook. The covered living connects to the house instead of hiding behind it. The pool belongs to the composition instead of floating in the grass.

Same architecture. Same materials. Same eye. That’s why our backyards read like part of the house: the same people designed both.

The brokerage lens

We’re also a real-estate brokerage, and our agents sell homes in these neighborhoods. Before you spend a dollar, ask them what a backyard like yours actually returns when it’s time to sell.

The old way

Most backyards get built in pieces

  • The pool company digs the hole.
  • A patio guy pours the slab.
  • Somebody else sets the grill.
  • A fourth bid for the shade.
  • Nobody talks to anybody.

Nothing talks to anything else, or to the house. You end up with parts instead of a place.

Your backyard is the next room of your home. We design it that way.

The substantial backyard builds, designed together, built to match the house. This is outdoor living Fort Worth summers actually reward: the kitchen, the cover, the fire, the water, one plan. (Small landscaping and fence-only jobs aren’t us.)

The honest answer

“Do you build the pool yourselves?”

Straight answer: we design the whole outdoor space and coordinate the pool build through trusted, vetted pool partners. You get one plan and one point of contact, not a pool company, a patio crew, and three other trades pointing at each other.

Most of the horror stories in this category are pool-contractor horror stories. This is how we make sure yours isn’t one of them: if you’ve been searching for a pool builder in Fort Worth, what you actually need is one team accountable for the whole backyard, with a vetted pool builder already at the table.

The power move

The pool house earns its keep

Guest suite in the summer, changing room on Saturday, office on Monday, and a short step from a full accessory dwelling if you want it to earn income. Pool houses are some of our favorite and highest-value outdoor builds, because they’re not an accessory. They’re a small building, done with the same care as the house.

Our drafting team draws it to permit, our crew builds it, and it matches your home, not a kit dropped in the yard.

How much of the year you get

A backyard you use in July, not one you look at from inside

In July

Covered living and orientation are planned for the west sun, so the outdoor kitchen is usable in the heat and not only in the photographs.

In November

Fire features and a covered room stretch the season at the other end, which is where most of the good evenings actually are.

In stages, if you want

Plenty of clients build the outdoor living and hardscape first and add the pool later. We draw the whole plan up front so the phases fit together.

How it goes

Three steps to the backyard

Meet Up

We walk the backyard, talk through how you want to use it, and set a real budget.

Team Up

We design the whole outdoor space and put a plan and a number on paper, and you see it first, in design boards and 3D renderings, before anything gets built.

Glasses Up

We build it, and coordinate the trades so you don’t have to.

Real numbers, before the first shovel

What an outdoor build costs in Fort Worth

These projects range widely. A covered outdoor kitchen is a different number than a full backyard with a pool, hardscape, and a pool house.

Yours depends on scope and finishes. We bill cost-plus with a transparent markup (the real cost of materials and labor, plus a fee you can see) and give you a real number before the first shovel hits the dirt.

Don’t need it all at once?

Phase it: designed together on day one

The outdoor room

Covered living, kitchen, hardscape, fire: the part you use every week.

The pool

Added later, and it fits, because the whole plan existed before phase one broke ground.

The honest radius

Pool & outdoor is Fort Worth only, on purpose

Backyard builds need our crews on site constantly, so this is our tightest radius: Fort Worth proper. The big-lot neighborhoods are where most of this work lives:

  • Tanglewood
  • Westcliff
  • Rivercrest
  • Mira Vista
  • Park Hill
  • Ridglea Hills
  • Eagle Mountain Lake

Outside Fort Worth? Our design and drafting travel anywhere, and for the rest of the construction radius, see where we build.

Good questions

Before you break ground

The 6th Ave Homes team together on the office leather couch

Where would it even go?

Walk the backyard with us — no charge, and we’ll be straight about what the space can take.

The backyard build

What outdoor projects do you take on?

Outdoor kitchens, covered living spaces, pergolas and patio covers, large-scale hardscape, fire features, and pool houses: the substantial backyard builds.

Do you do small landscaping or fence-only jobs?

No. We focus on the big builds. For a full backyard designed as one space, that’s us; for a flower bed or a fence alone, we’re not your team.

How much does an outdoor build cost in Fort Worth?

Wide range. A covered outdoor kitchen is a different number than a full backyard with a pool, hardscape, and a pool house. We price cost-plus to your scope and give you a real number before the first shovel.

Can you match the backyard to my house?

Yes. That’s the point. Because we build and remodel homes, the outdoor space connects to the architecture instead of looking bolted on.

How do you design for Texas heat and clay soil?

Shade and covered living are planned for the brutal afternoon sun, and hardscape and pool decking are detailed for expansive clay soil and drainage so they don’t heave or pool water.

Pools, partners & planning

Do you build the pool yourselves?

We design the whole outdoor space and coordinate the pool build through trusted, vetted pool partners, so it’s one plan and one point of contact, not you juggling a pool company and three other trades.

Do you build pool houses and cabanas?

Yes. Pool houses are one of our favorite (and highest-value) outdoor builds, and they double as guest space or an ADU.

How long does a full backyard build take?

Depends on scope and whether a pool is involved (pool builds add permitting and partner scheduling); we give you a real timeline up front.

Do you handle permits for pools and structures?

Yes, including the required pool safety fencing and barrier codes the city enforces.

Can you phase it?

Yes. Many clients build the outdoor living and hardscape first and add the pool later; we design the whole plan so the phases fit together.

The team that builds your backyard builds homes

That’s the whole reason the outdoor kitchen, the covered living, and the pool house read as part of the house: the same people design and build both sides of the back door.
