Design · Draft · Build, under one roof

The Fort Worth team that designs, draws, and builds it all

We design it, draw it, and build it. Not three strangers hoping their visions line up.

Bring us a wish list or a bare lot. We carry it the whole way, or step in wherever you’re stuck.

Craft a home that feels like you.

Building your vision

Start wherever you are

Bring your own plans, or nothing but a wish list.

Either way the same crew carries the whole build, and because we design and draft in-house, the plan you approve is the plan that gets built.

Considering a home addition? Explore our Fort Worth home additions guide for room additions, second-story builds, and more.

The old way

Crafting your dream home doesn’t have to be a nightmare

The designer specs something the budget can’t carry.

The contractor changes it without telling anyone.

And you become the project manager you never wanted to be, eating every gap between their scopes.

Blown budgets. A design nobody owned. That’s the segmented way. It’s the whole reason 6th Ave Homes exists.

Why 6th Ave Homes

Design-build vs. hiring a contractor separately

Thousands of Fort Worth projects: historic down-to-the-studs restorations to ground-up custom homes.

We draft in-house, designs in-house, and builds in-house, so the plan you approve is the plan that gets built, priced cost-plus, every dollar visible.

Hire a designer and a contractor separately and you referee every gap. Hire us and there are no gaps to fall through.

The plan

Three steps. Zero gaps.

  1. Meet Up

We listen, walk the space, and talk budget honestly before anyone draws a line.

  2. Team Up

Designer, drafting team, and builder put one real plan and one real number on the table.

  3. Glasses Up

We build it, keep you in the loop, and hand back a home that feels like you.

Different words for the same thing: one Fort Worth company that designs, drafts, and builds, and prices it cost-plus, so you see where every dollar goes.

Cost-plus, explained

Construction isn’t cheap. We won’t pretend otherwise.

We bill cost-plus: the real cost, plus one markup you can see.

What a project runs comes down to scope, finishes, and whether we’re moving walls. You get a real range early, not a hopeful one.

How your bill is built

Materials

At cost. Open receipts: you see what we paid.

Labor

At cost. The crew’s real hours, no padding.

One transparent markup

Named up front. The only place we make money.

A real number before we break ground

Not a hopeful one. A real range early, updated honestly.

No padded line items. No mystery bid. How we price each service lives on its page.

Do you only work on historic homes?

No. Historic restoration is our roots, and we know Fairmount’s certificates of appropriateness cold, but we build all over Fort Worth, old and new, from remodels to ground-up custom homes.

Can you handle both the design and the build?

Yes. That’s the whole point of us. We design it, draft it, and build it, so the plan you approve is the plan that gets built.

Will you build from plans I already have?

Yes. Bring plans from another firm or contractor and we’ll price them honestly and build them. Or start with nothing but a wish list and our team will draw them.

What size projects do you take?

Full renovations, additions, garage apartments, and new builds: real construction, not single-trade handyman jobs.

How long will my project take?

We won’t pretend there’s a one-size number. A bath refresh and a ground-up build live on different calendars. What we promise: a real, honest schedule before we break ground, set by the same team that designs and builds it, and we keep you in the loop the whole way. No moving targets.

Are you a general contractor or a design-build firm?

Both, in the way that matters. We’re the general contractor who runs your build, and we’re also the designers and drafting team who drew it. That’s what design-build means: one company, one contract, one number, instead of an architect, a designer, and a contractor who’ve never met.

Who’s the best remodeling contractor in Fort Worth?

6th Ave Homes is a Fort Worth design-build contractor specializing in whole-home renovations, kitchen and bath remodels, home additions, and custom new construction. We won’t pretend to be neutral, but Fort Worth Magazine has voted us the Best Home Builder & Remodeler four years running, and the Fort Worth Chamber named us Small Business of the Year. Ask around the neighborhood, then come meet the team and judge for yourself.

Where do you build?

Across Fort Worth, Tarrant County, and the close-in towns east toward Aledo, roughly 25 minutes from downtown. Our drafting and design travel much further; construction stays where we can show up.

Wondering how to upgrade on a smaller budget?

Start here, this weekend

Done wrong vs. done right

A renovation done wrong costs you twice: once in money, once in the year of your life you spend refereeing it.

Done right, it’s the home you stop wanting to leave. That’s the one we build.
