What it costs with us
Bathroom remodel cost in Fort Worth, from a hall bath to a primary bath
Which bathroom it is sets the range. How far the plumbing moves decides where you land inside it.
A hall, guest, kids’ or powder bath, taken down to the studs and rebuilt
$20,000–$55,000
A primary bath, about 100 square feet at the low end and closer to 190 at the top
$63,000–$120,000
about $630 a square foot
Both ranges are construction plus our fee. We bill Cost Plus: the materials and labor at what they really cost, with our markup listed on top instead of folded in.
Seen lower averages online? Most of them are pulled down by vanity swaps. Ours are for a room taken down to the studs and rebuilt, with new plumbing, waterproofing, tile, glass, electrical and ventilation.

What moves the price
What moves a bathroom remodel up or down its range
Where the plumbing goes usually decides whether you land at the low end of your range or the high end. After that come the tub, whether it’s your only full bath, how much of a primary bath has to be pieced together, and the finishes you pick.
Where the water goes
Leaving the tub, toilet and sink where the last plumber put them is one number. Moving a drain means opening the floor under it, and that is usually the difference between the low end of a range and the high end.
-
Whether the tub stays
Trading a tub-and-shower combo for a walk-in shower means new waterproofing, new glass, and often a drain in a new place.
-
Whether it’s your only full bath
If it is, we phase the work so the room comes back on between stages. Phasing costs more than doing the room in one run.
-
The finishes you pick
This is the lever you control most. A stock vanity and porcelain tile sit at one end, and custom cabinetry, stone and frameless glass at the other.
-
Whether a primary bath has to be pieced together
In an older house, a primary bath is often made from an original bath, a closet and a stretch of hall. How many of those pieces move decides the number.
Permits
When a Fort Worth bathroom remodel needs a permit
Swapping a toilet or a faucet doesn’t need a permit from the City. Taking a bathroom down to the studs goes well past that and needs permits. The fees below are for a primary bath.
“Permits are not required for ‘cosmetic’ remodels (floor or wall covering, cabinets, counter tops, shelving, etc.) or plumbing fixture replacement.”
$1,200–$4,000
Permit fees on a primary bath, on top of our range
On our remodels, the permits are ours to handle.

A hall, guest, kids’ or powder bath taken down to the studs and rebuilt runs $20,000 to $55,000 with us, construction plus our fee, before permits and contingency. Powder rooms and half baths are the ones that can land near $20,000. See hall and guest bath remodels
Why is your bathroom range higher than the averages online?
Most online averages are pulled down by vanity swaps and surface updates. Our ranges are for a bathroom taken down to the studs and rebuilt, with the plumbing, waterproofing, tile, glass, electrical and ventilation all redone.
Is my bathroom remodel estimate the final price?
No. You get an honest estimate after we walk the room, and a detailed budget once the design is done. With Cost Plus billing you see the budget as the work moves, and anything behind the walls is priced in the open.
Does replacing a toilet or vanity need a permit in Fort Worth?
Not on its own. The City doesn’t require a permit for plumbing fixture replacement or for cosmetic work like floor and wall covering, cabinets and counters. A remodel that takes the room down to the studs goes well past that.
Why does a bathroom cost so much per square foot?
Because the room is small and the work is not. A bathroom puts six trades into forty to a hundred square feet, so a primary bath runs about $630 a square foot with us, several times what the rest of a house costs per foot.

What is the average cost of a bathroom remodel in Texas?
In Fort Worth, a bathroom remodel with us runs $20,000 to $55,000 for a hall bath and $63,000 to $120,000 for a primary bath, construction plus our fee, before permits and contingency. We don’t publish a Texas average, because prices and permit rules change from city to city.
